General Information on Santa Fe, New Mexico
Santa Fe, New Mexico is one of the great destination cities of the world. Known as the "City Different," Santa Fe provides an unparalleled quality of life, vibrant culture and wonderful climate, making it a desirable location for vacation getaways and ski trips.

Nestled in the foothills, of the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains, Santa Fe sits at an altitude of 7,000 feet in north-central New Mexico. Santa Fe has four distinct seasons with snow during the winter. Known for its clear blue sky, Santa Fe enjoys more than 300 days a year of sunshine. The hottest months are typically July and August when daytime temperatures can reach into the mid to upper nineties, but the evenings remain cool as the daily temperature typically changes 30 degrees due to the city's elevation. Normal rainfall is 14 inches a year.

Founded in 1607, Santa Fe is the second oldest city and the oldest capital city in the United States. At one time all lands west of the Mississippi were governed from the Palace of the Governors on the Santa Fe Plaza.

Santa Fe is considered the third largest art market in the United States based on sales from 250 art galleries and dealers in town. Gourmet magazines continue to feature Santa Fe’s finest chefs, as the city is home to world-class restaurants to fit every taste and budget. The city also offers world-class performing arts, including opera, symphony and ballet, as well as outdoor activities galore, including skiing, white-water rafting, hiking and camping.

The Albuquerque Sunport, which is located one hour south of Santa Fe by car, is the closest major airport. The Santa Fe Municipal Airport is located just outside of Santa Fe and handles only commuter and private aircraft.
